Why are my miles not displaying accurately in the Distance competition?
Certain data is calculated differently in a Distance competition depending on the exercise type.
If you are participating in a Distance competition and notice that your total distance is different than is reflected in the standings, there are a few points to consider.
The data may not have synced yet.
If you are referring to your miles data in a connected app rather than the Motivation Alliance app, the data may not have been synced yet. You can ensure the latest data is synced by logging in to Motivation Alliance.
Steps distance does not count towards Distance competitions.
If you are looking at the Estimated Distance section of the Steps page, these miles do not count towards a Distance competition. This is because the steps distance is an estimate rather than an actual metric. Only miles logged from exercises on the Workout page are counted towards the competition.
Cycling and Swimming exercises are calculated differently than other exercises.
The level of exertion for Cycling and Swimming is different than standard exertion exercises like running and walking, so calculations are automatically applied to account for this.
- Swimming requires more exertion per miles traveled, so 1 swimming mile counts as 3.24 miles towards the competition.
- Cycling requires less exertion per miles traveled, so 3.76 cycling miles count as 1 mile towards the competition.
