What is a Volunteering Type?
Staff need to create Volunteering Types in order for the Volunteering page to be usable for members.
If your site has Volunteering licensed, users can track volunteering hours from the Volunteering page in thew participant interface. The caveat with this feature is that at least one Volunteering Type needs to exist before members can start logging their volunteering hours.
A Volunteering Type is a staff-defined option that participants can select from the Volunteering page to log their hours. You can create a general "Volunteering" type, or you can add several types to capture different types of volunteer work easier in reporting.
If no Volunteering Types exist, the page will look like this to participants:

In the staff interface, you can go to the Config page and select Volunteering Types under Basic Settings. This page allows you to add Volunteering Types.
Volunteering Types consist of three main settings:
- Name is what the type is called.
- Description gives a brief overview of what the type entails.
- Staff Verification Required dictates whether the volunteering record can count towards programs and milestones immediately, or if a staff member needs to approve the hours first.
Here is an example:

Once at least one volunteering type is created, members can start logging their hours.
